People who own an iDevice are crazy about the apps available but once they used them they want more and more. The fact that the Apple Store doesn’t approve with many apps that they would like to use, makes them choose to jailbreak their devices. This is a great idea because once they do it, they can download Cydia very easy. First, let me tell you some things about Cydia. This is an independent installer application for all the iDevices, developed by Jay Freeman. It is very similar with the App Store but the difference between the two of them is that the first one offers you more applications that the App Store doesn’t approve with.

You ought to know that Apple rejects the idea of using Cydia and that is a normal thing to do but it doesn’t mean it is illegal so you don’t need to worry about it. You need to know that because the App Store doesn’t approve with this, you need to jailbreak your phone, and that means unlocking it, modifying iOS and geting root access, in order to be able to get the applications the App Store rejects. There is a long list of jailbreaking tools, like SpiritJB, Limera1n, Blackra1n, PwanageTool, Redsn0w, Greenpois0n, Sn0wbreeze and JailbreakMe and the one you choose depends on the iOS verson and on the iDevice version.

The problem involved by jailbreaking and installing Cydia is regarding upgrading. What I am trying to say is that, once you decide to go with this, you aren’t supposed to upgrade your device to the latest versions from Apple. If you do that, you will unjailbreak your phone and I assume you don’t want this to happen. Jailbreaking is not unsafe and tough but my recommendation for you is to buy a jailbreaking package or premium support because, in case you device gets stuck while doing this, you are able to get quick support.

There is something else you need to know before you choose using Cydia and I am referring to the fact that, once you do that, the Apple Store may not provide support, if there are any problems generated by the apps you start using. That doesn’t mean that Cydia is not safe, it just means that you should be downloading apps and tweaks from only trusted repositories. I strongly recommend you to use two of the most popular repositories, and those are BigBoss and ModMyi.

Anyway, in order to avoid the problems that could appear once you choose to jailbreak your phone and install Cydia, I advise you to read everything you can find about it and about the steps you need to fallow, because although it seems hard and it is not 100% safe, Cydia is a must have app for your iDevice!
